Rangers Win, 5-2, at Washington
|
The Texas Rangers withstood a fine game by Washington third baseman Jose Ramirez at Nationals Park, to upend the Nationals, 5-2. Ramirez belted 2 home runs. Yoshinobu Yamamoto, the winning pitcher, improved to 4-5. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 7 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 0. The save went to Daniel Lynch IV, his 1st this season.
Texas used a clutch at-bat from Gary Sanchez to capture the win. The catcher hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the first inning to put the Rangers ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
Said losing manager Shane S: "The at-bats, obviously, needed to be better."
Texas is now 27-38, Washington 33-32.
