Cubs Come Up Short at Cincinnati, 4-3
|
Kevin Gausman, who is tied for 3rd in the NL in strikeouts with 92, pitched well, but the Chicago Cubs still fell short, losing, 4-3, to the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park. Cincinnati pitcher Trevor Rogers got the win. He's now 5-3. Kevin Gausman was tagged with the loss. Cincinnati bumps their record to 32-34 with the win.
Cincinnati second baseman Cavan Biggio contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two down, he hit a fastball to left-center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 35th hit of the season and put the Reds ahead, 4-2.
"It was a good effort all around," said Biggio.
