Mariners Suffer 4-3 Road Loss
|
The Seattle Mariners and Kansas City Royals provided some drama for the home crowd.
The Seattle Mariners got a sterling performance from pitcher Zach Eflin, but the Kansas City Royals still prevailed, 4-3. Eflin threw 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball. Ryan Helsley was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 12 of 14 save opportunities.
The Royals got a big at-bat from third baseman Matt Chapman. For the game, Chapman went 1-3 with a double. He drove in 3 runs. In the bottom of the first, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing double. His 12th double of the season gave Kansas City a 3-0 lead.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Chapman said.
The Mariners, now 27-39, have lost 6 in a row.
