Cubs Deal Detroit 6-0 Defeat
|
Brandon Woodruff never let Detroit get something going. The Chicago right-hander commanded his fastball in pitching the Cubs to a 6-0 win. Woodruff, now 6-4, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 7, walking 6, and allowing no runs. With the win, Chicago raised its record to 35-30.
Chicago designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton helped his team get ahead early. In the top of the first, with the bases loaded, he hit a sacrifice fly.
"We did a lot of things right," said Stanton.
