The Boston Red Sox downed the New York Yankees, 6-3. The hitting star was left fielder Taylor Trammell. Trammell was 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Red Sox. Boston starter Zack Wheeler was credited with the win after throwing 97 pitches over 6.2 innings. His record now stands at 9-3. John Schreiber notched his 4th save in 5 chances.
With Boston leading 1-0 in the bottom of the second, Trammell hit a slider from Michael Wacha for a 3-run home run. It was his 9th home run of the season and put the Red Sox ahead, 4-0.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Trammell.
After today's action, Boston sits at 34-37; New York slips to 28-40.
