|
New York center fielder Jake McCarthy played a vital role in his team's 7-4 conquest of Tampa Bay. He went 2-2 with a triple and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for New York. New York reliever Blake Treinen picked up the win, raising his record to 2-0. Yennier Cano was tagged with the loss. The slumping Rays have dropped 6 in a row.
The decisive blow was delivered by Jose Trevino in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 3-run home run off 31-year old right-handed pitcher Yennier Cano to win the game for New York. The home crowd went nuts.
"I keep on showing up every day and trying to put up good at-bats and find good pitches to hit," said McCarthy.
