Astros Deal Royals 7-6 Loss
|
Fans watched the Houston Astros and the Kansas City Royals fight to the finish.
The Kansas City Royals got a superb performance from right fielder Corbin Carroll, but the Houston Astros still won the game, 7-6. Carroll went 4 for 4 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Mitch Spence, 3-2, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. Gabe Speier picked up the save, his 5th.
Ha-seong Kim had a big bases-clearing triple for the Astros in the top of the fifth inning. With Houston leading 3-1 and the bases loaded, he got a curveball from 36-year old right-handed pitcher Miles Mikolas and swatted a triple to right. It was his 6th triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Astros ahead, 6-1.
"Winning never gets dull," said Kim.
The American League West Division-leading Astros are 43-30.
