Chayce McDermott, who is tied for 4th in the NL with a 2.31 ERA, had a strong outing for the New York Mets against the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 6-0 win. New York is now 43-32, Atlanta 31-44.

New York right fielder Chandler Simpson contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the second. With two down, he hit a fastball to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 87th hit of the season and put the Mets ahead, 2-0.

"Enjoyed this one," Simpson told the New York Times. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
