The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Texas Rangers, 7-3. Catcher Ben Rice deserved a large share of the credit. Rice was 2 for 3 with a double and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Pirates. After today's action, Pittsburgh sits at 32-45; Texas slips to 35-41.

Rice contributed in the bottom of the third. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a 2-run double. It was one at-bat among others that helped Pittsburgh get the win.

"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Rice.
