Reds 3-1 Winners Over St. Louis
|
The Cincinnati Reds picked up a win at Busch Stadium, downing the St. Louis Cardinals, 3-1. On the mound for Cincinnati was right-hander Seth Lugo, who played a pivotal role in the win. The save went to Felix Bautista, his 16th this season. The second-place Reds have won 6 in a row.
The Cardinals had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Reds going into the top of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 28-year old second baseman Jonathan India came to the plate. India hit a run-scoring triple on a 1-0 fastball from St. Louis hurler Marcus Stroman. It was India's 2nd triple of the year.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Cincinnati skipper Jeff P.
