Giants Drop Cardinals, 3-1
|
The San Francisco Giants got a marvelous performance from pitcher Alex Cobb. The right-hander kept the St. Louis offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 3-1 San Francisco victory at Busch Stadium. Chris Martin, credited with the win in relief, is now 4-4. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. The first-place Giants have won 4 in a row.
Cedric Mullins came through with a big-time hit for San Francisco. The center fielder smacked a solo home run in the top of the 12th inning to give his team the lead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"There's no quit in this team," said Giants manager Jason M.
