Reds Suffer 4-3 Home Defeat
|
The New York Yankees faced a tough opponent in Cincinnati pitcher Corbin Burnes, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Great American Ball Park by a final score of 4-3. Burnes went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Reliever Taylor Clarke picked up the win. His record improves to 3-1. Felix Bautista took the loss. Keegan Akin closed the game out for New York, earning his 9th save.
Ryan O'Hearn came through with a big-time hit for New York. The designated hitter smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 4-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
New York manager Darrell S commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
The loss makes Cincinnati 42-38.
