The Los Angeles Angels got a good effort from starter Vince Velasquez in defeating the Chicago Cubs at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. The final score was 4-0. Velasquez, now 1-8, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 7, walking 2, and allowing no runs. The Angels raised their record to 37-45.
Gunnar Henderson had a big 2-run home run for the Angels in the bottom of the first inning. With Los Angeles leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from 30-year old right-handed pitcher Tyler Wells and punished it. The result was his 20th home run of the season, which put the Angels on top, 3-0.
Velasquez attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
