Cardinals Rally to Eke Out Win
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Cleveland Guardians, 36-year old left-handed pitcher James Paxton was the difference-maker. The St. Louis left-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. St. Louis pitcher Jack Leftwich got the win, upping his record to 2-2. Joel Payamps got the loss. With the win, St. Louis has a record of 30-54. Cleveland falls to 47-35.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the tenth, with the game tied, Greg Allen was at the plate when St. Louis scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Cardinals to go in front, 3-2.
"Our team found a way to get it done," said Allen.
