Tigers Defeat Twins, 7-4
|
The Detroit Tigers knocked off the Minnesota Twins, 7-4, at Target Field. It took 15 innings. Miguel Vargas was a prime reason Detroit won. The right fielder went 3-4 with 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Detroit pitcher Isaiah Campbell earned the win, hiking his record to 2-1. Easton McGee suffered the loss. Detroit, at 54-31, is 6½ games up in the American League Central Division.
The game was all tied up in the top of the 15th, until Vargas delivered big-time for Detroit, stroking a dramatic 2-run single off Easton McGee. The game-changing hit put the Tigers on top, 6-4.
"Baseball is such a beautiful game," said Vargas. "Anything can happen on any night, and that's why you don't dwell on what happened yesterday. Just look forward and trust you're going to have positive results."
