Royals Earn 5-1 Home Win
|
Walker Buehler, who is tied for 7th in the AL in quality starts with 9, never let the Rays get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Royals to a win, 5-1. Buehler yielded 1 run over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4. His record improves to 10-4. Liam Hendriks got the save, his 4th in 4 chances.
Willy Adames had a big 2-run home run for the Royals in the bottom of the third inning. With Kansas City leading 2-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a changeup from 28-year old right-handed pitcher Tylor Megill and punished it. The result was his 17th home run of the season, which put the Royals on top, 4-0.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Buehler.
The second-place Royals have won 5 in a row.
