Red Sox Topple Reds with Late Rally
|
Cincinnati got a terrific game from second baseman Jonathan India. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Boston, 9-5. India was 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The Red Sox improved their record to 43-45 with the win over Cincinnati.
The Reds had been locked in a 4-4 tie with the Red Sox going into the bottom of the eighth inning. That changed quickly when the 25-year old first baseman Spencer Torkelson came to the plate. Torkelson hit a run-scoring double on a full count fastball from Cincinnati hurler Jeremiah Estrada. It was Torkelson's 15th double of the year.
"The boys came out and just played their butts off," said Boston manager Chris L.
