The Kansas City Royals got a superb performance from pitcher Cody Poteet, but the Arizona Diamondbacks still won the game, 5-2. Poteet threw 5.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Fernando Cruz picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Austin Adams suffered the loss. Arizona raised its record to 53-35 with the win.

Max Kepler hit a 2-run home run off Austin Adams in the bottom of the eighth, which put the Diamondbacks ahead, 4-2. In addition to the homer, Kepler had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.
