Guardians Win at Home, 4-1
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Guardians get after it.
Luis Castillo, who leads the AL in complete games with 1, pitched well, but the Detroit Tigers still fell short, losing, 4-1, to the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field. Enyel De Los Santos earned his 10th save in 12 chances.
The Guardians got a big at-bat from right fielder Colton Cowser. For the game, Cowser was 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 9th home run of the season gave Cleveland a 3-0 lead.
"Clutch hitting plus clutch pitching usually equals a win," said Cowser.
After today's action, Cleveland sits at 50-38, while Detroit falls to 59-31.
