Chicago Topples St. Louis, 6-3
|
Chicago Cubs starter Landon Knack found his groove in his team's 6-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. Andres Munoz got the save, his 21st in 24 chances. With the win, Chicago pushed its record to 52-38.
Giancarlo Stanton had a big 3-run home run for the Cubs in the bottom of the third inning. With Chicago trailing 2-1 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he sized up a slider from Josiah Gray, who is tied for 2nd in the NL in complete games with 1, and punished it. The result was his 16th home run of the season, which put the Cubs on top, 4-2.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Stanton told the Chicago Citizen.
