Cincinnati Dispatched, 4-3, by Philadelphia
|
Freddy Tarnok was locked in. The right-hander led the Philadelphia Phillies to a 4-3 win against the Cincinnati Reds at Citizens Bank Park. With the win over Cincinnati, the Phillies improved to 56-33.
Pete Alonso, who finished 2nd in the NL in runs with 109 in 2021, took Cincinnati hurler Paul Sewald deep in the bottom of the sixth. His 2-run home run put the Phillies on top, 4-3. In all, Alonso had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 3.
"Freddy's not intimidated by who's stepping into the batter's box," said Philadelphia manager Jon C.
