Cardinals 7-4 Victors Over Chicago
|
Due in large part to right fielder Mookie Betts, the St. Louis Cardinals sunk the Chicago Cubs, 7-4. Betts was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Shota Imanaga, the winning pitcher, improved to 6-9. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 5 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 7 and walking 1. Earning his 10th save for St. Louis was David Robertson.
With St. Louis leading 2-0 in the top of the fourth, Betts hit a fastball from Jesus Luzardo for a 3-run home run. It was his 14th home run of the season and put the Cardinals ahead, 5-0.
Betts told a St. Louis Daily reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
Yes, it was a win for St. Louis; but their 31-60 record is still nothing to boast about.
