Nationals Down Cardinals, 9-7
Fans who congregated at Busch Stadium were treated to extra-inning drama.

The Washington Nationals topped the St. Louis Cardinals, 9-7, in 17 innings. Washington left fielder Michael Conforto, in particular, was impressive. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. The win was credited to Jakob Junis in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Emilio Pagan took the loss.

The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Jose Ramirez came to bat in the top of the 17th. Facing St. Louis pitcher Emilio Pagan, he hit a 1-1 cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Washington on top, 8-7.

"Feels good to get the job done," Conforto said after the game.

Washington is now 47-45. St. Louis is 31-61.
