With Late Score, Nationals Beat Brewers
|
Despite a great performance by Milwaukee right fielder Cody Bellinger, the Washington Nationals defeated the Brewers by the score of 3-2 at American Family Field. Bellinger was 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks. Washington reliever Matt Brash snagged the win, upping his record to 1-2. Steven Okert shouldered the loss. Griffin Jax earned his 19th save in 19 chances.
Seth Brown, who is on pace for 100 RBI this season, had a direct impact on the outcome. Brown contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to put Washington up, 3-2.
Washington manager Shane S commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
With the win, Washington raised its record to 49-47.
