The Minnesota Twins topped the Pittsburgh Pirates, 11-4, with youngster Elly De La Cruz playing a key role. De La Cruz went 3 for 5 with 2 home runs and a triple. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3 for the Twins in the win. Minnesota is now 53-44. Pittsburgh is 41-56.

Ian Happ had a big run-scoring triple for the Twins in the bottom of the first inning. With Minnesota leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from Nick Pivetta, who is tied for 7th in the NL with a 10.6 K/9 rate, and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 3rd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Twins ahead, 2-0.
