The Chicago Cubs topped the Boston Red Sox, 8-6, with third baseman Gleyber Torres playing a big role. Torres went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for the Cubs in the win. Brandon Woodruff got the win, improving to 11-6. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 3 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 9 and walking 4. Andres Munoz got the save, his 24th in 27 chances.

The Cubs benefited from a costly error in the bottom of the seventh. With Dylan Moore at bat and Chicago leading 6-5, the Boston miscue allowed Chicago to plate 1 and take the lead, 7-5.
