Carpenter Hits 2 home runs in Orioles Win
Thanks in large part to right fielder Kerry Carpenter, the Baltimore Orioles beat the Tampa Bay Rays, 5-4. Carpenter hit 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Packy Naughton came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 5 hits in 1.1 innings. His record now stands at 4-2. Josh Sborz notched his 12th save in 20 chances.

Carpenter had a timely hit for Baltimore in the top of the eighth. With Baltimore trailing 4-3, he turned a 2-1 fastball into a 2-run home run. It was his 22nd home run of the season, making it 5-4, Baltimore.

"This was a good win," said Carpenter.

Baltimore is now 46-52, Tampa Bay 33-66.
