The Cincinnati Reds could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Seth Lugo into a win. Instead, the New York Mets prevailed, 4-3, in 10 innings. Lugo threw 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball. New York pitcher Blake Treinen got the win, upping his record to 4-0. Felix Bautista got the loss. The second-place Reds have dropped 5 straight games.
New York got a knockout punch from Rafael Devers. The first baseman hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the tenth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"The crowd was raucous," said Devers.
