|
The Oakland Athletics picked up a win at Citi Field, dropping the New York Mets, 7-3. Braxton Garrett was the difference-maker. In 8.1 innings, Garrett surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 0. He allowed 2 runs. Oakland is now 56-46, while New York is 59-44.
Kyle Tucker had a big 2-run home run for the Athletics in the top of the third inning. With Oakland leading 2-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a changeup from 27-year old right-handed pitcher Luis Gil and punished it. The result was his 19th home run of the season, which put the Athletics on top, 4-0.
Tucker called the win "a collective effort."
