Blake Snell pitched a gem to lead Philadelphia to victory over the Boston Red Sox, 2-0. The winning pitcher was Snell, now 8-5. He tossed 5.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 8. DL Hall recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 4 for 8.

William Contreras had a big solo home run for the Phillies in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Philadelphia leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he got a fastball from 33-year old right-handed pitcher Jameson Taillon and swatted a home run to left. It was his 16th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Phillies ahead, 2-0.

"There were things that we could've improved upon," said Phillies manager Jon C, "but all in all, I'm satisfied with our performance."

The setback makes Boston 50-54.
