The Pittsburgh Pirates downed the Detroit Tigers, 4-1, at PNC Park. Stellar pitching by Bailey Ober had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is on pace for 214 strikeouts this season, handcuffed his opponent all game. Ober yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. With one out in the bottom of the seventh, Anthony Volpe had a game-changing hit. The Pirates shortstop slammed a 2-run single off Scott Effross, making the score 4-1, Pittsburgh.
