San Francisco Stopped, 4-1, by New York
|
New York and San Francisco duked it out and the Mets came out victorious.
Braxton Ashcraft was nothing short of phenomenal for the New York Mets. The 25-year-old right-hander was a big reason his team beat the San Francisco Giants, 4-1. Ashcraft picked up the win for New York, going 5.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 2 hits. He now sports a record of 7-6. Kenley Jansen notched his 11th save in 13 chances.
Rafael Devers, who finished 2nd in the AL in RBI with 129 last year, had a direct impact on the outcome. Devers contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put New York up, 3-1.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Devers. "You've got to get results."
The Mets improved their record to 60-45 by beating San Francisco.
