Washington Dispatched, 9-2, by Minnesota
|
Minnesota Twins starter Brandon Pfaadt turned in a top-notch performance against the Washington Nationals at Target Field. The result was a win for the Twins, 9-2. Today's win puts Minnesota at 58-48, while Washington falls to 53-53.
Jordan Westburg had a big grand slam home run for the Twins in the bottom of the first inning. With Minnesota leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a sinker from Lance McCullers Jr., who is tied for 3rd in the NL in wins with 11, and swatted a home run to right. It was his 10th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Twins ahead, 5-0.
"We maximized our offense today," said Minnesota skipper Jonathan A. "That makes everyone's life easier."
