Detroit pitcher Humberto Castellanos had a large part in his team beating the Toronto Blue Jays, 6-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Julian Merryweather picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 4-3. Tanner Banks suffered the loss. With the win over Toronto, the Tigers improved to 69-38.

Detroit took a 2-1 lead on Fernando Tatis Jr.'s 24th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Tatis Jr. hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Toronto pitcher Aaron Ashby visibly frustrated.
