Phillies Lose Late, 9-5
|
The 9-5 New York win over Philadelphia was due largely to Spencer Steer. The Yankees third baseman went 2 for 5 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. The Phillies, now 51-55, have lost 4 straight.
New York used the timely hitting of Andres Gimenez to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Yankees on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It feels good to get this one," Steer told the New York Bulletin.
