Red Sox Roll Over Twins, 9-2
|
Boston first baseman Spencer Torkelson had a 4-RBI game, which helped his team beat the Minnesota Twins, 9-2. Jameson Taillon, who finished 4th in the NL in ERA with 3.19 in 2021, was the winning pitcher. Over 5.2 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, with 1 walk and 11 strikeouts. The Red Sox, at 55-54, have now won 5 straight.
With Boston leading 6-2 in the top of the ninth, Torkelson came up to bat against Minnesota pitcher Thomas Szapucki. Torkelson hit a fastball to left for a 3-run home run. His 15th home run of the season put the Red Sox on top, 9-2.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Torkelson told the Boston Citizen.
