Mets Get Clutch Win, 4-3
|
Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the New York Mets got the win.
The New York Mets locked up a win at Petco Park, knocking off the San Diego Padres, 4-3. On the mound for New York was right-hander Chayce McDermott. He played a major role in the triumph. New York reliever Joe Kelly snagged the win, upping his record to 3-1. Jose Butto shouldered the loss.
Marcus Semien, who finished 5th in the NL in doubles with 41 last year, had a direct impact on the outcome. Semien contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the 14th inning to put New York up, 4-3.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Semien.
New York is 63-46 and San Diego, with the loss, 61-48.
