Marlins Turn Back St. Louis, 3-1
|
Miami Marlins pitcher Shane Bieber was in fine form, leading his team past the St. Louis Cardinals, 3-1. Bieber picked up the win for Miami, going 7.2 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 11-7. With the win, Miami raised its record to 68-40.
Miami used the timely hitting of Nolan Arenado to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Marlins on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Arenado said after the game.
