Thanks in large part to designated hitter Ty France, the Tampa Bay Rays beat the New York Yankees, 6-5. France was 2-4 with a double and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Grant Holmes got credit for the win, improving to 5-11. He allowed 2 runs on 7 hits in 5.1 innings. Yennier Cano notched his 24th save in 28 chances.

Early in the game, France had a bases-clearing double for Tampa Bay. It was his 18th double of the season and put the Rays on top, 3-0.

"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said France.

The victory puts Tampa Bay at 37-73.
