Reds Beat Atlanta, 4-3
|
Great American Ball Park was host to some action-packed drama.
The Cincinnati Reds overcame a pretty good performance by Atlanta second baseman Tommy Edman, beating the Braves, 4-3, at Great American Ball Park. Edman was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. The Reds now have a record of 52-59 with the win over Atlanta.
The decisive blow was delivered by Brent Rooker in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a run-scoring double off 26-year old right-handed pitcher Clayton Beeter to win the game for Cincinnati. The home crowd went nuts.
Rooker said, "Whether you hit the ball hard, you walk, you have a long at-bat, 10 or 12 pitches, or you hit a homer, you're just trying to do anything you can do to help the team win."
