A good performance from catcher Sean Murphy helped the Boston Red Sox defeat the Texas Rangers, 6-5. Murphy went 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Red Sox. The win was credited to Aroldis Chapman in relief. His record improves to 6-3. Yuki Matsui took the loss. Alexis Diaz notched his 20th save in 24 chances.

Murphy had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a 1-2 sinker from Daniel Lynch, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Red Sox a 4-3 lead. It was the 25th home run of the year for Murphy.

"It was a solid team effort," said Murphy after the game.

Boston now has a record of 55-54 with the win.
