The Houston Astros topped the Tampa Bay Rays, 4-0, in American League action at Minute Maid Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Houston pitcher Framber Valdez. Houston is now 68-41, 6½ games up in the American League West Division.

Valdez was in the zone all game. He frustrated Tampa Bay hitters while giving the Astros 7 innings of quality work. Valdez threw 90 pitches, allowing 2 hits and getting 7 punchouts.
