Giants 5-3 Winners Over New York
|
The New York Mets could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Sawyer Gipson-Long into a win. Instead, the San Francisco Giants prevailed, 5-3. Gipson-Long threw 6.0 innings of 4-hit ball. San Francisco reliever Eduard Bazardo was the winner. His record is now 2-1. The losing pitcher was Cade Smith. Ryan Pressly earned the save, his 25th in 28 tries.
San Francisco used a timely hit from Nicky Lopez to get the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Giants ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Lopez said.
The Giants now have a record of 59-52 with the win over New York.
