Astros Upend Rangers, 5-2
|
Houston pitcher Nick Martinez did his part in helping his team beat the Texas Rangers, 5-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Martinez got the win, improving to 2-6. He gave up 7 hits and walked 0 over 6 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Houston raised its record to 71-42 with the win.
Houston used the hitting of Lars Nootbaar to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Astros on top, 3-0. For the game, Nootbaar had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We had some nice at-bats at the right time," said Astros manager Logan F.
