Seattle Beaten, 4-1, by Chicago
|
The Seattle Mariners could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Kyle Gibson into a win. Instead, the Chicago White Sox prevailed, 4-1. Gibson threw 6.0 innings of 2-hit ball. Bryan Abreu got the save, his 3rd in 3 chances. Chicago goes to 55-60, Seattle to 48-68.
Chicago needed the clutch hitting of Nathaniel Lowe to seal the deal. The first baseman swatted a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the White Sox on top, 4-1. For the game, Lowe had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Lowe called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
