Burnes Silences Pittsburgh Bats
|
Corbin Burnes, who led the NL in strikeouts with 298 in 2023, was terrific for the Cincinnati Reds in his team's 3-0 triumph over the Pittsburgh Pirates. His performance earned Burnes rave reviews. Felix Bautista was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 22 of 26 save opportunities. Cincinnati is now 54-62, Pittsburgh 49-67.
Burnes earned the win, going 8 strong innings for Cincinnati. The native of Bakersfield, California, allowed just 3 hits, while striking out 9. Pittsburgh hitters did next to nothing against the right-hander.
"Corbin can bring it," said Cincinnati manager Jeff P.
