Marlins Drop Braves, 10-8
|
The Miami Marlins beat the Atlanta Braves, 10-8, at Truist Park. Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who finished 4th in the NL in wins above replacement with 7.1 in 2022, starred for Miami. He was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Miami reliever John King picked up the win, upping his record to 8-1. Dedniel Nunez was saddled with the loss. Edwin Díaz was credited with the save, his 30th in 34 tries.
The game was all tied up in the top of the tenth, until Guerrero Jr. delivered big-time for Miami, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Dedniel Nunez. The game-changing hit put the Marlins on top, 7-6.
"Baseball is a wild game -- a crazy game, sometimes," said Guerrero Jr..
With the win, Miami raised its record to 74-41.
