Pirates Prevail, 5-4, Over Cincinnati
|
Jonah Bride left his imprint on the 5-4 Pittsburgh win against the Cincinnati Reds. Bride, who is tied for 6th in the NL in bases on balls with 61, went 2 for 3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Michael Grove came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 1.2 innings. His record now stands at 2-1. Picking up the save was Pierce Johnson. He's now 18 for 23 in save chances.
With Pittsburgh leading 4-3 in the bottom of the fifth, Bride hit a cutter from Joe Ryan for a solo home run. It was his 11th home run of the season and put the Pirates ahead, 5-3.
"We found a way to get it done," Bride said.
The setback makes Cincinnati 54-63.
