Giants Use Late Score to Top Nationals, 4-3
The San Francisco Giants and Washington Nationals played an entertaining game for Oracle Park patrons.

San Francisco designated hitter Jose Altuve contributed significantly to his team's 4-3 win over the Washington Nationals. Altuve, who finished 5th in the NL in doubles with 41 last year, went 3 for 4 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Giants. The loss makes Washington 57-59.

Batting in the bottom of the ninth, 28-year old first baseman David Villar had a real shot to win the game. Washington pitcher Michael Lorenzen was determined not to let it happen. But with two outs, Villar hit a run-scoring single. The Giants had a walk-off triumph.

"It was bedlam at the end," Villar said.
