Los Angeles Loss Takes Shine Off Kjerstad Performance
Though he had a terrific game, Heston Kjerstad could not prevent his team, the Los Angeles Angels, from absorbing a loss. New York won the game, 8-6. Kjerstad belted 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. The win went to Joey Wentz in relief. His record improves to 4-0. Andrew Chafin took the loss. The 4th-place Yankees have won 5 straight.

Had Wilmer Flores not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Flores hit a 2-run single. That made the score 8-6, in favor of the Yankees.

"It was a nice win for our side today," said Yankees manager Darrell S. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
